6 Signs He’s Too Immature for a Relationship

You may think you’ve
found the perfect guy for you. He checks off all the boxes on your
list of what you like in a guy’s personality. But you’ve noticed
that he may be a bit immature as far as relationships go, but you
aren’t for sure. Determining a person’s emotional maturity in
relation to yours is imperative during the initial dating phase. Lack
of maturity in a potential partner is a guaranteed pitfall that is
better to avoid all together, than endure in a relationship. If you
find out early that he’s way to immature for you, you could save
yourself a lot of wasted time and hurt feelings down the road. If you
think a guy you’re into might not be on your level, check out these
6 signs he’s too immature for a relationship.

He makes no
effort to spend time with you.

Does your love
interest always expect to see you without making any effort to do so?
If he expects you to always be on his time and never goes out of his
way to plan a date for you, he’s probably not ready for a real
relationship.

His conversation
is always only surface level.

A mature guy is not afraid or incapable of exploring ideas in depth.
An immature guy is either unwilling or unable to give any level of
stimulating dialogue. He’s only interested in surface level
interaction with you, so his conversations with you reflect that.

He lacks any real
goals or dreams.

A guy with ambition
is a guy who knows what he wants and is willing to work for it. If he
wants a relationship, he will chase that and achieve it, just like
the rest of the things he wants in life. An immature guy will lack
direction in life in general, and more specifically, in dating life
as well.

He won’t define
the relationship.

Immature guys love
“situationships” because no title gives free reign or any type of
behavior or effort he feels like displaying on a whim. He will not
want to define a relationship, because this will hold him to
standards and responsibilities to live up to.

He can’t hold
down a job for long.

A mature man will
have his finances in order and is willing to work hard to maintain
his financial security. This is harder for an immature guy, who is
flakier and less reliable in many aspects of life. If he can’t hold
down job responsibilities, he will likely not be able to hold down
the fort of your relationship.

He cannot or will
not express his feelings.

Many guys are more of the “strong, silent” type, but it is healthy and critical to express feelings to your partner in a relationship. This may not require many words for a mature guy, but he will be able to articulate his feelings effectively nonetheless. An immature guy will not know what he feels, or just be largely against tapping into his emotional side at all. If he’s super immature, he may even get annoyed or angry when you ask him to express himself.
